Church Steeple in the Blue Jaffa Sky

.
I like this shot, taken in Old Jaffa a few weeks ago, for the way you can see the sky right through the steeple.

Yes, you're right. They must have built it expressly for SkyWatch. :)

Interesting colors here.

This is a "lighter" design than I'd expect to see in most places in Jaffa -- or Israel in general for that matter. It looks more modern than what I'm used to. But it's still quite striking and your treatment of it (and the sky behind it) is superb!

I don't know the history of the church (all I could see from my vantage point was the steeple) but I believe it is fairly modern. I believe it lies just outside the boundaries of the Old City as well.

Old Jaffa....I recall a well in a large stone-paved courtyard, and slender cats with long legs and very raspy meows...I hope you will show us more of Old Jaffa!

Terrific capture, Robin! The church does indeed look more modern than I would expect, but it's lovely! Hope you have a great weekend!

Nice composition! Church steeples against the sky are just wonderful photographic subjects and you captured this one beautifully. Love that the bird flew by when it did and that it was big enough to make an impact on the shot.

I hadn't had Summer Stock on my radar yet but I'm ready this week. :)

You are so right, not a cloud in your so blue sky, just an eagle? vulture? Great background to set off the stone of the church.

The bird is really cool too. You wouldn't think that sky color was real. Gorgeous.

This is such a serene photo- perhaps in your shop you should suggest to buyers that they hang this one beside the coloured doors one????
The stonework is beautiful (though I do appreciate you likely didn't have much to do with that...how old did you say you were? And your previous job was as a mason, yes???)
